Nuclear Shadow
Listen: Nuclear Shadow (2:48)
In the end, the corona of light surrounding us
wasn’t mine, but yours.

I wasn’t made for our late savage age,
to toss atomic toys and stare glassless at the sun.

Find me when you start seeing double.
You can have the me, and the not-me—

a year of fidelity broken
by overgrown shadows.

Keep the confessions
I made when the power went out.

Better yet, burn me in the furnace
and bottle up my dust—

the lilies you bought unopened
on our table, faded.

“Nuclear Shadow” was recorded in Nottingham, UK by Sabine Wütrich (soprano), Daniël Kramer (piano), and Simon Paterson (sound engineer).
